history

Steve first began as a carpenter in 1982 as an apprentice with BHP. In Whyalla, Steve developed a passion for residential construction and started the business partnership; Jones & White which began building houses for multiple builders on contract until the business became wildly successful building extensions and renovations independently.

In 1997 Steve’s business partner Andrew Jones moved away from Whyalla and Steve White General Builders was created. A family run business that set out with Steve’s name and reputation front and centre.

Since then the business has steadily grown and taken on larger and more demanding projects, while never compromising on high standards of workmanship and care for clients.

The Moyles Building

Our office is proudly located in the Moyles Building Whyalla. Built in 1940 as the Whyalla factory for Moyles Pty Ltd manufacturing and distributing soda and ice around the area. Over the many decades the building had fallen into disrepair with intentions to demolish. Since purchasing the building it has been carefully restored and returned to the original frontage design. We are proud to have ensured that this iconic landmark will endure.
